CHIC DNA Blood Bank
$10.00
Has your Pumi had its DNA banked yet? It is very important we get DNA from as many different Pumik as possible for future research. We have a relatively young, healthy population of dogs at the present but don’t know what health problems the future holds. Previous DNA submissions have already discovered that some Pumik carry the gene for Degenerative Myelopathy. Submitting your dog’s DNA now can help future researchers in their quest for a new discovery. Please consider donating your dog’s DNA at Pumifest this year if you haven’t done so previously. This only takes a couple of minutes and your Pumi is good to go immediately afterwards. If you don’t remember if your Pumi has donated, a list of the dogs that have their DNA banked is at https://pumiclub.org/events/pumifest/health-testing/. Your dog must be permanently identified in order to have test results included in CHIC. Permanent identification may be in the form of microchip or tattoo.
You must send the following to Gail Oneal prior to Pumifest:
- DNA Application & Health History (download and fill out)
- 3 generation pedigree of your dog
If you don’t have a 3-generation pedigree, you can order one from AKC or get it from your dog’s breeder or the Pumi Pedigree Database.
Send these documents to Gail Oneal at gannoneal@gmail.com, or they can be mailed to Gail Oneal, 3716 N Westwood Ln, Spokane, WA 99224.
Questions on any of this may be directed to Gail.
